Spinach & Feta Turkey Burgers : Oven Baked

No need for a grill. These Spinach & Feta Turkey Burgers are oven baked and juicy!

My husband loves burgers. Seriously, when we go out to eat I always like to try something new but I can guarantee that my husband will most likely order a burger of some sort. We've come into the habit of making our own burgers at home. It’s fun to make and we can control what goes inside. We love making turkey burgers because they’re a little bit on the healthier side and, personally, I just like the taste of them better than hamburgers made of beef. Yesterday, I made my favorite variety of turkey burger: spinach and feta! My husband and I love feta cheese (we even put it on our pizza!) and the spinach just goes well with the feta and turkey while adding a little green to our entree. Since we can’t BBQ in our neighborhood, we resorted to baking the burgers in the oven, which is still good! I served the Spinach and Feta Turkey Burgers on a whole wheat bun and topped it with some lettuce, tomato, jalapeños and pickles (all the good stuff!). I also cut up my own potato fries, sprinkled them with some garlic salt, pepper and parmesan and baked it in the oven along with the burgers. It was really good! I’ll leave the recipe below. Spinach & Feta Turkey Burgers
Yield: 4 Burgers

1 lb. Ground Turkey
1 Tsp. Garlic Powder
1/2 Tsp. Oregano
1/4 Tsp. Cumin
1/4 Tsp. Red Pepper Flakes
Salt & Pepper to taste
3 Oz. Crumbled Feta (I used the garlic and herb flavor but original works just as well!)
1/4 Onion, diced
1/2 Cup Spinach, cooked & chopped

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. In a medium bowl, mix together the ground turkey, garlic powder, oregano, cumin and red pepper flakes. Add salt and pepper to taste. Mix in the onions and feta. Be sure the chopped cooked spinach is drained from water and add to the turkey mixture. I used fresh spinach and sautéed it on the stove with a tiny bit of olive oil for about 2 minutes. Form the turkey into 4 equal sized patties. Burgers tend to shrink when cooked so make them a little larger than the bun you will be using. Transfer the patties to a lined and lightly greased baking sheet. Place in oven and bake for approx. 30 minutes or until the meat reaches 165 degrees F. Serve on a whole wheat bun and all of your favorite burger fixings!
